KOSMOS II - 2008

Permanent restaurant terrace design including custom-made outdoor furniture.
Located in the absolute city centre of Helsinki, Finnish icon restaurant “Kosmos” commissioned Lindfors to create a terrace in 2007. Lindfors’ creation Kosmos II is open for customers since August 2008.
Lindfors requested a large automated terrace roof which would require several posts holding the weight of this “rain or shine” shelter. Rather than sticking to standard vertical “pillars”, Lindfors created sculptural motives to fulfil the very same purpose: holding the large and heavy canvas above the outdoor dining area.
Lindfors also designed the Kosmos II-terrace stackable outdoor chair in powder coated welded stainless roundstock.
Terrace structure: sculptural “pillars” are welded and powder coated steel roundstock. Frame for the canvas roof system: welded and powder-coated steel tubing.
The structure has integrated LED lighting.
